Spring Center Head Start

Overview

MSK provided site development and permitting assistance for an addition to the Bennington Recreation Center to house the new United Children's Services Head Start, a federally funded educational childcare center.

To obtain a Vermont stormwater discharge permit, MSK redesigned the site's stormwater management system to reflect the addition to the recreation center building, a parking lot expansion, and a reconfiguration of the site's existing playing fields, which together increased the site's impervious surface.

Stormwater permitting compliance was achieved by designing a combination of grass swales and catch basins to convey stormwater to vegetated surfaces and subsurface infiltration chambers.
