Challenge

As the state of Vermont's permitting standards change, existing sites must be brought into compliance with current regulations. Casella has multiple sites across the state that are subject to these state permitting requirements. In order to meet these requirements, additional stormwater treatment practices must be designed and installed. These practices must provide the necessary treatment while minimizing the impact to the facilities operations and maintenance costs.

Solution

Our approach has been to analyze existing stormwater treatment practices, and to design improvements whenever possible to these existing practices. This reduces the impact to site operations as well as the financial impact. When additional treatment devices are required, they are designed to reduce their impact to site operations to the fullest extent possible. This rehabilitation approach has been implemented successfully across multiple sites in Vermont.

Results

We have successfully improved and completed multiple stormwater drainage and treatment projects across many locations in Vermont. Our team continues to bring sites into compliance as state regulations and the client's needs evolve.
