Project Description
Monument View Apartments
Stormwater Master Plan, Multifamily Redevelopment
Challenge
For more than half a century, Prospect Mountain has been a southwest Vermont ski destination. The Nordic skiing site came under new ownership in 2018. The new owner, the nonprofit Prospect Mountain Association, wished to rehabilitate a disused snowmaking pond in order to improve and expand trails and maintain the length and quality of the ski season.
Solution
The restoration required design, permitting, and construction. Following a site survey, we completed site development plans in summer 2019, which included a new rockfill weir, bank stabilization, pond dredging necessary to restore water storage volume, and the installation of a dry hydrant. We also provided extensive regulatory support throughout the project, including assistance with an Act 250 land-use permit application.
Results
The restored snowmaking pond stands as an important investment in the future of Prospect Mountain.
