Overview

MSK provided site development and permitting assistance for an addition to the Bennington Recreation Center that will house a new Head Start child care center. To obtain a Vermont stormwater discharge permit, MSK redesigned the site’s stormwater management scheme to reflect the addition to the recreation center building, a parking lot expansion, and a reconfiguration of the site’s existing playing fields, which together increased the impervious surface by 0.6 acres. Stormwater runoff is collected by both grass swales and catch basins before it is directed to the site’s treatment areas. The site’s stormwater runoff is treated by a combination of vegetated surfaces and subsurface infiltration chambers that are tied into the municipal drainage system.
