Project Description
Water Infrastructure Reconstruction
BENNINGTON, VT
Overview
In the wake of severe damage to the municipal water system inflicted by Tropical Storm Irene in August 2011, the Town of Bennington hired MSK to reconstruct a broken water intake valve and damaged water line under Bolles Brook, which had interrupted water delivery to residences throughout the western part of town. MSK acted quickly to resolve this public health emergency. In just 6 days, we designed an aerial crossing to replace the broken buried main and put out a bid for $1 million of construction. We oversaw the complete reconstruction of the intake valve, the replacement of damaged water main, and the construction of the aerial crossing. MSK coordinated with FEMA throughout the project and negotiated reimbursement to the Town of Bennington for every dollar spent.
